You probably know the late Dennis Hooper as the brilliant character actor who ignited the big screen playing intense, volatile characters in such films as Easy Rider, River's Edge, Apocalypse Now, and Blue Velvet. What you might not know is that he was also an accomplished artist (photography was his chosen medium) and one of the country's premiere collectors and proponents of contemporary and modern art. Following its October auction of some of the more premiere pieces from Hopper's impressive collection, Christie's is set to put a slew of smaller works from the collection on the block, January 11-12, 2011, at its Rockefeller Plaza location in New York City. Up for grabs are portraits of the actor by Julian Schabel, Takashi Murakami, and Kenny Scharf, photographs by Andy Warhol and Roddy McDowell, and more. See the pieces we'd raise our paddles for after the jump.
